Farms Safety Tams II

Course Overview:

TAMS II aims to provide farmers with grant aid to improve and/or build a specific range of farm buildings or purchase equipment that may benefit their farm businesses.

TAMS II stands for the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme. It compromises of six individual schemes:

Young Farmer Capital Investment Scheme (YFCIS).
Dairy Equipment Scheme (DES).
Organic Capital Investment Scheme (OCIS).
Low Emission Slurry Spreading Equipment Scheme (LESS).
Pig and Poultry Investment Scheme (PPIS).
Animal Welfare Safety and Nutrient Storage Scheme (AWNSS).

The benefits of TAMS II range from the construction of new animal housing, the provision of nutrient storage facilities and the ever-important safety elements along with a more environmentally friendly approach to slurry spreading. 

Who Should Attend This Course:

All TAMS applicants must have completed either the half-day Farm Safety Code of Practice course or the QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture (Green Cert.) within the last five years prior to submission of a payment claim.

Your claim for payment will not be processed until evidence of completion of the course is provided.

Participants are required to have each of the following:

Course Modules:

The training modules incorporated within this course are as follows: 

Module 1: Introduction – Health and Safety Legislation.

Module 2: Viewing & Discussion of Farmer Survivor Stories.

Module 3: Practical ways of reducing farm accidents.

Module 4: Safe standards and practices with livestock, machinery, tractors and buildings.

Module 5: Completing the risk assessment and code of practice documents.

Course Aims & Objectives:

This Code of Practice aims to improve the level of safety and health among all people engaged in the agriculture sector by providing practical guidance.
Completion of this course is deemed, therefore, to satisfy the Farm Safety Training Course requirements set out in the TAMS II Terms and Conditions.

    Course Duration:

    Half day course. 

    Course Assessment:

    Written assessment as set out by DAFM.

    Course Certification:

    Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a TAMS Grant letter of attendance.
